ABOUT YOUR TRIP

Up and down the East Coast, there are many historical landmarks and institutions important to our Catholic faith. We’ll discover the history of America’s Catholic Roots in our nation’s capital on this trip. Visit the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the foremost Marian Shrine in the country and the largest Catholic Church in the U.S. Our journey will also take us to “The Big Apple!” We’ll visit all the famous sites like Wall Street, the Empire State Building, Times Square, and Central Park.

We offer a complete itinerary that includes round-trip airfare, first-class hotel accommodations, breakfast, dinner, all transportation, and daily Masses, all under Nativity’s excellent organization and leadership.

ITINERARY

Today: Our pilgrimage begins today by boarding your flight to San Francisco. Upon arrival, we will take a panoramic city tour before checking into our hotel. You’ll have the rest of the day free to explore.

Evening: Dinner & overnight accommodations will be at your hotel.

Today: Our first mission is Mission San Francisco de Asís, which has a beautiful stained glass depiction of all 21 California Missions. Next, we will continue to Mission San Rafael Arcángel, which was built as California’s first hospital. Lastly, we head deep into wine country to Mission San Francisco de Solano in Sonoma State Historic Park.

Evening: Dinner & overnight accommodations will be at your hotel.

Today: We begin our day with a quick pitstop at the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge. After some great photo opportunities, we will continue to the Muir Woods National Monument to visit the stunning redwood trees just outside the city. Next, we will continue to Napa and have the opportunity to try some of the best wines in the world, including Cline Cellars and Kieu Hoang Winery. Afterward, we will head back north to have a tasting and tour at various wineries in the Sonoma Valley. We will visit the Trek Winery on our way back before returning to our hotel.

Evening: Dinner & overnight accommodations will be at your hotel.

Today: This morning, we will leave San Francisco and head south towards Carmel by the sea. Along the way, we will stop at two more California missions. The first, la Exaltacion de la Santa Cruz, was named after the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The second is Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmelo, which is in the middle of the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Today: This morning, we will travel to Monterey to visit Canary Row, where we will visit the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and its adorable otters. Afterward, we’ll begin one of the world’s most beautiful stretches of road. This famous 17-mile stretch ends at the 250-year-old Lone Cypress, sitting on the edge of Monterey Bay. We will then return to Carmel and tour a few of their local wineries and restaurants before a relaxing evening on the beautiful beaches of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Today: After our day in Carmel, we will continue south towards Santa Barbra. On the way, we will stop at Mission La Purisma Concepcion, one of the most famous missions on the trail. The 1,928-acre grounds have been completely restored and look as beautiful as they did when the mission was founded in 1787. We will also see the “Queen of the Missions,” Mission Santa Barbra. After leaving the mission, we will have tastings at some famous local Santa Barbra wineries and enjoy the rest of the evening in Santa Barbra.

Today: We will leave Santa Barbara and head to Los Angeles. En route, we will stop at the San Buenaventura Mission (Mission by the Sea), just outside of Ventura, CA. Once we arrive in Los Angeles, we will visit Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana, a church that gold rush pioneers believed had hidden treasures under its floors. We then go to the fortress-like Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, located in the San Fernando Valley. After visiting these missions, we will spend the evening in Santa Monica, where we will enjoy dinner.

Today: We will leave our hotel in Santa Monica this morning and continue to travel south to enjoy a nice day in Dana Point, CA. On the way, we will visit the Mission San Juan Capistrano, which celebrates the miracle of the Swallows every year on the Feast of St. Joseph, Upon arrival in Dana Point, we will take a boat from the Dana Wharf and have a whale-watching excursion! Once we get back to shore, we will visit a few local shops and restaurants before heading to our hotel.

Today: We will leave Dana Point this morning for the last leg of our journey towards San Diego. We will stop in Oceanside, CA, to visit Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, known as the “King of the Missions” for its relation to Mission Santa Barbra. Operated today by Franciscan Friars, many original structures, including the first pepper trees planted in California, are still being preserved today. We will then move on to the last mission on the trail, the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá. This mission was the cornerstone of the founding of San Diego. The Franciscan Friars who founded these missions inspired the San Diego Padres.

Today: Our tour ends today as we depart for home.
