FLIGHT DEPARTURE
Round-trip from San Francisco (SFO)
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.”
– Psalm 84:5
Walk in the footsteps of Spain’s greatest spiritual giants. From the mystic poetry of St. John of the Cross in Segovia to St. Teresa of Ávila’s vision of the Interior Castle, this pilgrimage immerses you in the rich tradition of Spanish mysticism. In the Basque country, encounter St. Ignatius of Loyola — soldier turned saint — whose Spiritual Exercises transformed the Church and continue to guide seekers toward discernment, freedom, and surrender to God. Three saints. One transformative journey.
- I understand we will be using high-speed trains and there will not be porterage(anyone to carry bags).
- I can walk at least 4 miles a day without assistance.

Depart on your overnight flight to Spain as we begin this sacred journey together. This is more than travel; it is a pilgrimage! As we leave home behind, we place our trust in God, asking Him to open our hearts, deepen our faith, and guide us through the lives and landscapes that have shaped centuries of Christian spirituality.
DAY 2: Arrival in Madrid: Gathering as a Pilgrimage Family
Arrive in Madrid and transfer to your hotel. After time to rest, enjoy a gentle orientation walk through Spain’s vibrant capital. DAY 3: Segovia: Entering the Mystical Way of St. John of the Cross
Travel by high-speed train to Segovia, a jewel of Castilian Spain. Here we pray at the tomb of St. John of the Cross, mystic, poet, and Doctor of the Church. As we explore the cathedral and historic center, we reflect on his profound teachings about surrender, trust, and divine love, including The Dark Night of the Soul. This day invites us to listen more deeply to God’s voice in silence. B, Dinner on own
DAY 4: Ávila: Walking with St. Teresa of Jesus
Journey to the medieval walled city of Ávila, birthplace of St. Teresa of Jesus. Visit her convent and pray where she discovered the beauty of interior prayer and spiritual friendship. Walk the ancient city walls and reflect on her Interior Castle, a call to holiness for every believer. An overnight stay allows us to experience the sacred stillness of Ávila after the crowds depart. B, Dinner on own
DAY 5: Sevilla: Faith on Fire and Mission to the World
Travel south to Sevilla, a city shaped by faith, art, and missionary zeal. Visit the magnificent Sevilla Cathedral and Giralda, symbols of Spain’s Catholic heritage and evangelizing spirit. As we stroll through Barrio Santa Cruz, we reflect on how the Gospel was carried from Spain to the Americas, reminding us that faith is meant to be shared. B, L, D
DAY 6: Sevilla: Beauty, Prayer, and Mercy
Begin the day with prayer at a contemplative convent, encountering the quiet strength of lives devoted entirely to God. Optional visits include the Royal Alcázar or a peaceful walk along the Guadalquivir River. Gather for faith sharing, reflecting on how beauty draws us closer to God’s mercy and renews our sense of purpose. B, D
DAY 7: Sacred Vineyards & the Call of Conversion
Travel north toward La Rioja and the Basque Country, where landscapes shift and hearts open. Visit a vineyard for our first Sacred Vineyards experience, reflecting on Christ’s words: “I am the vine; you are the branches.” As we journey onward, we are introduced to St. Ignatius of Loyola, whose dramatic conversion would change the Church forever. B, D
DAY 8: Sanctuary of Loyola: From Wounded Soldier to Saint
Arrive at the Sanctuary of Loyola, birthplace of St. Ignatius. Celebrate Mass and walk through his family home, where a cannonball wound became the doorway to God’s call. DAY 9: The Ignatian Way & Our Lady’s Guidance
Travel along the Ignatian Way, stopping in Zaragoza to pray at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, one of Christianity’s oldest Marian shrines. Here, we entrust our journey and our families to Mary’s loving care, asking her to lead us ever closer to her Son. B, D
