Pilgrimage for Married Couples in the Holy Land

A pilgrimage to the Holy Land will be an experience you will never forget. Christians have been going on pilgrimages from the very beginning of our faith. The Holy Land holds importance as the place of Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection.

Pilgrimages include visits to Bethlehem where we stop at The Church of the Nativity that commemorates the birth of Christ. We visit sites like the village of Cana, the Sea of Galilee, Mt. Tabor, and the River Jordan, Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

On our pilgrimage to the Holy Land we offer a complete itinerary that includes round-trip airfare, accommodation in first-class hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, all transportation, daily Mass and all under excellent organizing, leadership and teaching from Nativity pilgrimage expert staff and Guides.

Cana / Nazareth / Tiberias

On this special day, where the Wedding at Cana took place, we honor the vocation of marriage as each couples’ wedding rings will be placed on the altar, as Mass is celebrated. Fr. Preston will perform a Blessing of the Wedding Rings, couples will renew their wedding promises to each other, and certificates of renewal will be given to commemorate this special occasion. In Nazareth, couples will visit the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, where the Angel Gabriel tells Mary she is to be the mother of God. Couples will do a Rosary Walk around the church’s patio, as they view the display of Marian mosaics from around the world. After lunch, couples will visit St. Joseph’s Church, which is close by. St. Joseph and Mary continue to be holy role models for every married couple. Couples will walk the streets of Nazareth to Mary’s Well and the old market before heading back to our hotel.

Mount Of Beatitudes / Capernaum / Tabgha / Sea Of Galilee / Tiberias

Today: After breakfast, couples will visit several holy sites along the Sea of Galilee. First, the Mount of Beatitudes, where couples will visit the Church, hear the Sermon on the Mount and Beatitudes for Your Marriage by Fr. Preston, and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee or tea during small group. Next, we visit Capernaum where Jesus lived and started his ministry. Couples will enjoy a traditional St. Peter’s Fish lunch, and the views of the beautiful Sea of Galilee. Then, we visit the Church of Peter’s Primacy in Tabgha, the location of the miraculous fishing. Here we will say a prayer for the Pope along the shore and couples will have an opportunity to put their feet in the miraculous water. Couples will conclude their day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee as was done in the time of Jesus, and where we will celebrate Mass.

Evening: Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at your hotel in Tiberias.

Mt. Tabor / Jordan River / Bethlehem

Today: After breakfast and hotel check-out, couples will visit Mount Tabor, the scene of the Transfiguration, and where Mass will be celebrated. As we travel to the Jordan River, couples will pray the rosary and be given an opportunity for group sharing. Upon arrival at the Jordan River, couples will renew their baptismal promises at Qasr el Yahud. This site holds the oldest and most ancient tradition for being the place of Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist in the Jordan River (Matthew 3:13-17). We will drive to Bethlehem, where we will spend the next two nights.

Evening: Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at your hotel in Bethlehem.

Bethlehem / Church of the Nativity / Milk Grotto / Shepherd’s Field / Bethlehem

We also visit St. Jerome’s cave where he translated the Vulgate, which is a testament to his faith and vocation. Couples will visit the Milk Grotto Shrine, where according to tradition, while fleeing from Herod’s soldiers on their way to Egypt, Mary and Joseph stopped so Mary could nurse the baby Jesus. A drop of Mary’s milk fell upon the stone and it turned white. Here, couples will pray the St. Michael Chaplet. A visit to Shepherd’s Fields, where the angels announced to the shepherds the birth of the Christ Child, will give couples an opportunity to engage in small group discussions. Then, couples will visit a Christian Cooperative store, which helps supports dozens of Catholic families living in the Holy Land.

Couples will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet as we drive to the hill of Mount Zion, the highest point in ancient Jerusalem. It is dominated by the Dormition Abbey. The location is identified in Christian tradition as the place where the Virgin Mary died or “fell asleep”, as the name suggests. Couples will be given time to pray before we visit the Upper Room. We end our day at St. Peter in Gallicantu, where Peter denied our Lord three times.

Here, with excellent acoustics, couples will sing together in praise and thanksgiving. We pass the Ecce Home where Pilate proclaimed “Behold the man;” then on to the Western Wall, the most holy place for the Jews.
